Well, it's official..our little Sweetie has a little place to call all her own. Her very own room, with her very own bathroom and walk-in closet. Fit for a little princess. The room was a dark khaki color when it was Hudson's, so the first thing we did was paint it two shades of purple. We love how it turned out and can't wait to see her in it!! :-)
Our birthmom has agreed to a professional photo session the week after the baby is born with the awesome Kelsey Anderson. We plan on filling the remaining frames with a picture of Sweetie with her two moms, a picture of Sweetie with her two big brothers, and then a picture her new mommy will take of just her. We just bought cheap frames and then distressed and painted them all to look similar.
Corbin asked if he could paint one day and he painted another picture of our new family. This time it was on canvas and we decided it would be a perfect thing to hang just as you come into her room.
We got this AWESOME bookshelf from a friend. You can get it at Land of Nod and she refused to take anything for it. What a sweet gift and the perfect addition to our room!! Everything on the shelf is sentimental. Starting with the sweet white dress. I purchased it for the baby's pictures with our birthmom. We also plan on having her baptized in the same dress. We will then hang it back where it is or put it in a shadow box. I also made the letters that spell "Sweetie". They are just cardboard letters from Hobby Lobby covered in chevron burlap. Cheap and easy :-)

All three of these books have sentimental value. The book titled "I wished for you" is an adoption story about a mommy and baby bear. I read this book to Corbin and Hudson to explain adoption and get them excited about their new baby sister. We also plan on reading it to the baby when she arrives. The "Purplicious" book is from when our birthmom was excited that we chose to paint the room purple instead of pink....she said purple was her color :-) And lastly, the pink book is titled "Princesses on the run" to read to our Sweetie because "C" chose us because she thought the boys would treat the baby like a princess.
The "diva ducks" are from our shower for our little diva and the shoes were a pair she received at the shower some awesome friends threw for her (pictures to come in a future post.)
Below is the lamp I made. It was very easy...just take an old lamp and spray paint the base to match your decor. Then take leftover material and cut it into 4x4 squares. Round the edges then place a dot of hot glue into the center. Bunch the material around the hot glue. Allow to dry the cut the bottom flat. Hot glue each piece to the lamp shade. Do it a crazy amount of times and you have the lamp below. It was time consuming, but definitely worth it.
The Winnie the Pooh book ends are from Corbin and Hudson's nursery and the Peter Rabbit books are from mine.
Below is the crib that was used in Corbin and Hudson's nursery. We have a very talented friend in our neighborhood who offered to refinish it in exchange for family pictures. I love a good barter :-) He did an amazing job!!! I made the crib bumper and the crib skirt using the following tutorials.
We painted a stripe and used a Martha Stewart stencil from Michaels to make it look like a piece of ribbon. "Bapu" made the frame on the wall from a $16 8ft piece of molding from Lowes. The letters were purchased unfinished on Etsy from the following link:
To finish off the frame and letters I used a dark brown and the same color paint used on the crib. I used crackle glaze in between the layers. I used a hammer, screw driver, and sand paper to distress the wood then finished it off by painting it with a cup of espresso.
We put a lot of work and love into her room. Celebrating our journey and her in every step. As the days to her due date draw near, everyone is excited, anxious, and a little nervous. We all know that no one can predict what may happen, but when in her room, we feel somehow closer to her. Knowing that God is the only one who can see the big picture and all we can do is trust that every step brings us closer to our baby girl.
